California Climate Solutions achieving environmental goals + creating business opportunities

Negative Emissions

California must reduce future emissions, but mitigation alone will not be sufficient to tackle the troubling concentrations of greenhouse gases already in Earth’s atmosphere. California must begin planning for negative emissions–removing carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases resulting from past emissions directly from the atmosphere–through various emerging technologies and nature-based solutions. Doing so will be crucial to reaching the state’s carbon neutrality target no later than 2045, with net negative emissions thereafter.
